On 31 July 2024, as a member of the Victorian Homelessness Network (VHN), WHA agencies joined other Homelessness Local Area Support Networks (LASNs) from across the state and the Council to Homeless Persons (CHP), united in the cry that “Housing Ends Homelessness.” Together, they covered the steps of State Parliament with 6,000 origami houses to represent the number of extra houses Victoria needs each year for the next 10 years to end homelessness. The origami houses were folded by homelessness services workers, consumers, and members of the community.
The peaceful event included a Welcome to Country, speeches, and songs from the Community Choir Vossanova.
The Minister for Housing sponsored the event, and local MPs from across the state were invited to attend.
